Our Past
Cornelissen Farms started in 1953, when Antoine and Regina Cornelissen settled in Warwick Township, and purchased their first farm. The farm was 100 acres and 10 cows. George Cornelissen has solely been running the farm since 1991, and been pushing innovations on his farming operation. In 1993 our operation sold the dairy quota to achieve the new goals of the operation. In 1994, the operation purchased broilers and has been focusing on broiler production, and cash crop farm operations including custom work and a grain elevator. We have been highly involved in conservation tillage and started no-tilling corn in 1987, and have been completely no-till since 1990. We have been doing many expansions including building a new broiler barn in 2002, and won the Innovation Excellence Award in 2007 on using geothermal technology to heat the broiler barn. This was the first time geothermal technology was used in large scale in a poultry barn in Canada. Cornelissen Farms Inc. continues to be a family operated business, and is operated by George, his wife Carolyn, his daughter Ashley and his two sons Mike and Kyle.
